1. Start by assessing your supervisors' knowledge and skills.

Successful Supervisors comes with a valuable bonus: a CPD framework.

This document contains an assessment tool for you to complete with your supervisor, that will help you understand where their level of skill currently lies.

This bonus is actually your starting point.

Assess what they can do now, set targets for future development, and use Successful Supervisors to help them achieve those targets.

You'll find the framework in the bonuses section of the programme.

2. Complete one video per training session. No binge watching.

In the pilot programme, the schools who reported the best results limited themselves to one video per training session. They followed the approach of: learn one thing, practise it.

This drip-drip-drip strategy led to the biggest improvements in practice over time.

So, avoid binge watching the videos in one session.

Yes - I know it's tempting, and you want your supervisors to learn all of this new knowledge and start using it straight away.

But binge watching will give your supervisors too many concepts to remember in one go... meaning they'll be unable to retain all of the content. They'll also be missing out on the gentle reminders we'll be giving about the strategies, month-after-month.

Sticking to one video per training session will bring you the best long-term improvement in your supervisors' skills and confidence.

In the words of Zig Ziegler, "Repetition is the mother of skill."

3. Have a single computer or tablet that supervisors use to train.

This reduces confusion and helps your supervisors log in quickly and get on with the training.

Because the focus of your supervisors training should be on improving their behaviour management skills, not on wrestling with ICT issues.

4. Use the included posters as visual reminders of the strategies.

Included underneath every module are posters that reinforce key concepts.

Print them, laminate them, and put them on display where your supervisors meet most often. These gentle reminders will help keep those key strategies at the top of their mind when managing student behaviour.

5. Track progress and issue certificates.

In the resources section, you'll find Success Trackers and certificates to issue to your supervisors as they work through the programme.

Use them as a record of progress and to encourage a sense of achievement in the skills your supervisors have developed.

At the end of each level, there's also an optional test for your supervisors to take.

Should they pass the test (or pass with distinction), they'll receive a named certificate to download and print.
